and I am owner and lead designer of North Drawn Design.
MY MISSION
The fundamental mission of North Drawn Design is to help you, the homeowner, discover the ways your home can serve you best. This is achieved by listening carefully, analyzing the way you currently use your home, and developing solutions that surprise, inspire, and provide intention. This all comes together to create a timeless and custom home vision that is tailor-made for you.
When working with North Drawn Design, you can expect:
Well-thought out and often unconventional problem-solving that ensures you receive a design that fits your unique home and life.
Multiple design solutions that reflect the needed changes to your home while recognizing budgetary constraints.
Historically sensitive design that updates your living space while maintaining, illuminating and respecting the historic charm of your home.
Clever design solutions for small, unique spaces that might otherwise feel unable to be updated.
New-build design solutions that analyze and work within existing site conditions, all while considering the needs of your family, to create a home design that feels of the land.
Guidance in material and product selection to find budget-friendly solutions that give you the aesthetic you desire without breaking the bank.
Regardless of the scale of your project, from a simple bathroom renovation to full new-build, you can count on a carefully and thoroughly conceived design for your home.
WHY NORTH DRAWN DESIGN
To me, the word ‘north’ is multi-dimensional in its meaning – it describes progress, hard work, a particular way of living, and a specific location. It provides a sense of direction, evokes purpose, and demonstrates intention. The word represents where I came from (Northern Wisconsin), where I am (Milwaukee’s North Shore), how I work, and the sort of community I want to be a part of – and most of all, it makes me think of ‘home.’ ‘North’ encompasses the places, the people and the way of life I am drawn to and describes the way I want my business to operate – as purpose-driven, people-oriented, and with intention. And thus we have… North Drawn Design - your direction home.
ABOUT LUCILLE
I grew up in Northern Wisconsin and have lived in the Milwaukee area since 2009. I now reside in Milwaukee’s North Shore with my husband David and our two children. In 2017, we bought a 1959 ranch from its original owner and have been slowly DIYing the house to make it our own. This time designing and renovating my own home has made clear to me that my passion is in home design.
I have a BA in History from UW Madison and a Master’s in Architecture from UW Milwaukee with a concentration in Historic Preservation. I started my architectural career working for commercial architecture firms, but after several years in that field, I followed my passion into residential design. I have found so much joy in redirecting my focus into the home - I love inspiring and empowering homeowners through collaborative design and seeing the positive impact these changes have on their lives.
When my schedule allows, I am an instructor at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at UW Milwaukee, teaching sophomore and junior-level design studios. To be involved in my neighborhood and city, I serve on the Board of Appeals and the Building Board in the Village of Fox Point.
I have a great affinity for the outdoors and recreation. I love hiking and biking with friends and family, camping in the summers, and spending as much time as I can in my Northwoods hometown of Washburn, WI up on Lake Superior.
